Alison Laverty is a Writer and Video Creator who loves poetry. She was born and raised in Singapore where she worked in customer services and marketing for twenty years. She now lives in Brisbane, Australia with her husband, two children and their cat, Dusty. Alison is entrepreneur who runs a video production business and helped her husband start his own business. When she’s not writing or recording videos, you’ll find her walking in the rainforest with her family, always with a camera in hand.

Hobbies & Interest

  • I’ve been practicing Yoga for more than 25 years.
  • I’m an alocasia enthusiast.
  • I grow turmeric, ginger and galangal known as blue ginger in my garden for cooking.
  • I’m addicted to music from the 80s and their videos.
  • I have an extensive CD collection.
  • As a teen, I aspired to be a rock singer, like Belinda Carlisle of The Go-Go’s.
  • Close friends say I’m quirky and someone with a remarkable memory for songs and lyrics especially music from the 80s.
  • A lover of movies—futuristic, action, thrillers and zombie apocalypse are among my favorites.

Food & Lifestyle

  • I love cooking traditional local Singaporean food from scratch. (Checkout my family recipes)
  • I enjoy bushwalking with my family in the hinterlands.
  • I take care of my elderly Mother.
  • I sew my own clothes for my daughter and Mother.

Work & Professional Life

  • I’m bilingual—I speak Bahasa Melayu, Malay and Kristang, a creole Portuguese language spoken by Eurasians in Malaysia and Singapore, fluently.
  • I worked in southeast Asia and our main office was in Singapore.
